Precious Green Thing

23 01 2012

Happy Monday, everyone.  What better way to start the week than with a poem?

Precious Green Thing

A treasure so wondrous, it must be hidden,

Safe from prying eyes.

Precious prize, symbol of mystery.

So one with the stars.  So under the couch.

No  plastic ring from a bottle, I vouch.

Yes why would they ?

Birgit, a certain someone didn’t appreciate the implication, so I was pressured to revise the last line of my poem. Anything to keep peace in the house. (I abhor whinging.)

Smokey plays with a pen cap, but I haven’t tried the plastic bottle ring. Is it really that much fun?

Roxanne, I can’t speak for Smokey, but the precious green thing (that you refer to as a “plastic bottle ring”) is one of my favorite possessions. (Try rolling it on end on a flat surface….)

I’ll give it a try and mine is pink, I am sure the color won’t matter to Smokey… Although the green would be a better “male” color!

I prefer jingle balls – but your green thing looks quite entertaining.

Dearest Gary,
I can understand the attraction, it is indeed very mesmerising. Do you play with it? Or just like to carry and hide it away? Do you have more than one?
I wish to know.

My Dear Susan,
Yes to all of the above. I play with it sometimes. Other times I hide it away. And yes, I do have more than one, although the green one is my favorite. Thanks for asking…
Kitty kisses,
Gary

Gary, My cat Mr. Zippy also loves to play with rings from water bottles. One time I found a small piece of one in his litter box. So be careful to chew, but not to swallow. 🙂

Ah yes, Carolyn, I’m familiar with that type of ring — is made of a softer plastic and open-ended with a tab, right? Great fun to flip in the air. Thanks for the advice about being careful not to swallow.
